A Hidden Treasure Positioned To Explode.
Around 18 months ago I moved from the Tampa bay area (North) to what is commonly referred to a sthe “ Nature Coast”. At that time my job had eliminated my entire team. More specifically they move the department back to New York City.
Now the thought of moving to New York city 30 years ago may have been really attractive. But with a family here and no thought of what I was going to do, I decided to take my chances and move on to something new. To be honest, I had no choice.
It was used the savings and start the quest for a new job at 57 years of age. Fortunately for me, both of my children had just graduated from college and I was pretty free to do whatever I needed to do to survive.
With home prices on the rice and job prospects low, I decided to seek out the most affordable communities in the area. I quickly discovered that Hernando and Citrus Counties were the best values. So it was with blind faith that I began to look for a home in Hernando county.
Let’s go back in time for just a moment.
From my understanding, this was going on all over the place. Property owners were seeing a huge increase in rental rates and in order to get some of that they were moving lower paying tenants out.
I digress. So with all the chances that were going on I decided that I needed a “Life Style” chnge. I had chased the dream for may years, raised a family and mad many friends along the way.
I was looking for a career change. Being in my late 50’s I knew that it wasn’t going to be easy. Seriously, no matter how much experience and education I had, who was going to hire me? I was set up for what would be long road ahead. I’m not complaining, I’m simply stating the reality of life.
Though 50 isn’t old,
it certainly didn’t exude hey look at me I’m your next super star. With this in mind, I took some time to consider what were my options. I had many years in the financial industry. Spent some time in Real Estate, Sold shoes and sold telecommunications products over the phone.
After, hundreds of resumes sent out and offers from every call center in the state, it looked as if taking a beating from annoyed customers and people that had no interest in what I was selling was my final fate.
It was at that very point I decided that I should simply start my own business. But what type of business? It was simple, a service business that is tied to a growing industry. It was then that Image Streets was born.
Image Streets is Born
Image Streets, a photography company that specialized in Real Estate Photography. A business that tied all of my skill sets into place that I could potentially make a living, be independent and serve others. I launched a website, got a phone number and email address and of course a camera and all that stuff.
I was moving forward. But along the way I discovered something, I had moved to an area that offered some of the most beautiful scenery. The water, the sunsets, the birds, deer, bears, and so much more. Not only that, there were small towns that represented the way that Florida used to be.
Sure, Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami and Orlando are nice. But, I considered those cities to be New Florida, Not Old Florida. To experience towns were there friendly people, absolutely stunning sun sets and food that’s out of this world, there is no better place than the Nature Coast of Florida.
This revelation brings me to my original statement, “ A Hidden Treasure” positioned to explode. Like most secrets, there really isn’t any. It’s like anything else, once the masses start coming and more and more people want a piece of paradise, the sooner it becomes that everywhere else in the state. I love to see growth and prosperity for every town in our state. The challenge for me and many others, is at what cost?
The state is pouring in millions and millions of dollars on road expansion and development. As the population grows so does all the issues that go along with it. The Nature coast should preserve some of what God and nature has provided us. I scream from the roof tops, “Come visit us, It’s a great place to experience Florida at it’s best” But truthfully I want say right behind that, when you are done playing go back to Ohio. So by all means, please come visit and take in all that nature has to offer. I say that in jest, however, if you have a desire to become one of our fine citizens, we can point you in the direction of an outstanding real estate agent. It will my personal pleasure to refer you to an agent that KNOWS the area and can tell you all about the history and opportunities that are just waiting for you to experience.
So through it all I have found my place. A community of small towns, waterfront parks, beaches and the best darn fishing on the planet.
My contribution to the preservation is to photograph as many towns and places that I can. Add them to our blog on a regular basis and be available to answer any questions that you may have about a potential visit to our coast.
Email me, call me or simply show up and meet me for a cup of coffee. I truly believe that on your way to Disney World, you MUST stop by and see what Florida’s Nature Coast has to offer.
Until next time, John with Image streets signing off.
